Greetings From The New Computer
Jun. 16th, 2011 03:37 pmPosting from the new machine. Got it talking to the home internet without a problem. Set Google as the home page, and plugged in most of my favorites. That was the easy part. E-mail is going to be a big problem. What I had before was the most ancient and obsolete set-up in the world. The old computer had what was probably a 2002 version of Outlook Express, and my e-mail automatically dumped into it. Perfect and easy for a Luddite such as myself. The new computer isn't actually all that new, and has Outlook Express 6 on it. I called my e-mail provider to have them talk me through setting it up on the new machine. No good. They don't support Outlook 6, it's too old. So what do I do now? I don't know. I do not want to go to a website to read my e-mail, I want it dumped onto my computer. I really don't care how primitive and unsecure this might be, it's all about it being something I can understand how to use. I can go to the provider's website and read e-mail, I've been doing that all week, but I don't like how it's set up there, and I don't want that to be my default.
In other news, when Luke returns from running an errand, I'm going to start magnetizing my car.
