OK, imagine three guys about my age. Playing an electric guitar, vibraphone, strap-on keyboard, some sort of miniature trumpet thingy, and a theremin. Now imagine those guys, with those instruments, doing Ramones covers! It was absolutely twisted, and I loved it! I got there about 9:00, easily found a spot at the bar, ordered a soda, and read the Isthmus (Madison's free weekly paper). I didn't feel too weird being there alone. The crowd was small, but appreciative. After the first set, the keyboard player was standing next to me ordering a drink and I told him I really liked what I was hearing. He seemed genuinely surprised, and said that this group was just a side project for each member, and it was only their second live performance together ever. Most of their songs were fast, but they did a slow, trippy rendering of "I Wanna Be Sedated" that had everyone in hysterics. Finally, they wrapped up the show with a Jimi Hendrix inspired, theremin version of "The Star Spangled Banner" that went on for ten minutes at least. It was a HOOT! I'm so glad I went!

I can imagine a slow, trippy, theremin-y version of "I Wanna Be Sedated" but I bet my imagination falls far short of the reality. Hah! Glad you had a good time. Yeah!

Sounds awesome! Theramin? Ramones? Were the band members old?!
