Everybody's Doing It, So I Will Too
May. 8th, 2011 05:19 pmEveryone is posting pictures of their moms, and writing Wiscon introductions. I am a good little sheep, so here goes:

I have my kindergarden haircut, which makes this 1970. It's probably Saturday morning, and I'm rarin' to go, but mom doesn't look quite so perky. We three kids ran my folks ragged back then. Mom and dad still live in that house, though the furniture is a lot nicer now.
On the one hand, pretty much everyone going to Wiscon who might read this already knows me, but I like those introduction posts, so I'll do one anyway. Ha!
*I'm married to
holyoutlaw. We are not joined at the hip, so we will often be doing our own thing during the con when we're not running the LJ party and photobooth.
*I'm not a big hugger. It really depends on who it is, and my mood at the time.
*I'll eat darn near anything but Mexican. Pretty much my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world is have meals at restaurants with people I like. It is absolutely mandatory that I eat at Kabul at least once, preferably twice. Also, I must have a Plaza Burger. With cheese.
*There are lots of things I'd prefer not to talk about, though I'm sure I'll end up talking about it at some point, with someone: I hate politics with a passion. I have no interest in Moonfail. I don't want to talk about the fact that we've been unemployed for two and a half years, not looking for work, and how can we even afford to come to Wiscon anyway?
*I grew up in Madison, and lived there as recently as 2005, so I know where everything is (unless it's brand new since I left town).
*I'm not a very technical person. I'm not interested in, or impressed by your book-reading device, or your just-bought-it-yesterday tablet computer. However, if you can show me how to do things on my Android phone, I'll be your best bud.
*Schedule: We arrive Wednesday morning, hang with the folks for a day, then check in Thursday afternoon. Friday, Luke will get the rented equipment for the photo booth, and I'll get supplies for the LJ party. The cake will hopefully not be a lie! Saturday, relaxing and farmer's market. Sunday, photo booth stress. Monday, hot tub! Tuesday, check out, get the rented equipment back, spend another night with the folks, and fly home Wednesday afternoon.
*I'll have bouts of Imposter Syndrome. I'll see the cool people who I know a little bit, but not that well and I wish I knew them better, and I'll chicken out of saying something. Other times, I'll be so cool and social, you'll wish you were hangin with ME! So there!
*Between now and when we leave for Madison, I'll need to make a fascinator.
