* I'm still sick. Not contagious anymore, but feeling blah and sniffly. I haven't had a headcold in ages, nor have I had one hang on for so long.

* When we got to Chicago last week, the wireless mouse that I'd brought along stopped talking to my laptop. Very annoying. Arriving home, we found the keyboard was dead too. The adapter for both? Maybe, but how to find out? The mouse runs on batteries, but there was no door to open it and replace them that we could see. Luke finally went to the Logitech website and found the secret way to open the mouse. New batteries for everybody, and all are working happily again. I sure as hell would never have figured it out.

* Somewhere during the last week, my LJ decided that it will only show 10 entries per page, instead of the 20 it used to. I can't find the place in LJ to fix that. Anybody?

* While we were gone, [livejournal.com profile] lara7 and Paul babysat my plants. I brought over my rosemary, basil and onions. I was assured that my plant babies were well behaved, and didn't have any raucous plant-parties. The rosemary is noticably taller, the onions are bigger, and the the basil that was a starter from the farmer's market was huge! The basil that I'd planted as seeds and had just sprouted when we left, didn't fare so well. It looked almost the same as before, just barely sprouted. I put all the plants back on my balcony, and added a new pot of begonias, just for some color.

* For any astronomy buffs out there, APOD notes that there will be a comet in late June and early July that may be visible to the naked eye. I'm looking forward to it!

* The more people talk about Dreamwidth, the more Luke and I feel we'll go there eventually. I've heard a lot of talk about DW-v-LJ in the last few days. I don't have any current problem with LJ, but I want the option of seeing and commenting on DW posts, as people make noises about leaving LJ and moving exclusively to DW. I don't want to miss anything, or be unable to comment easily if I wish to. (I understand that I COULD comment on DW, using open ID, whatever that is, but I have yet to do it) Admittedly, I rarely make comments anywhere, but I want the option. Maybe we'll just get a code from somebody and set ourselves up with DW accounts that we don't use for everyday posting.

* Your WTF moment for the day. When we last left my box of clothes that I mailed to my folks, it arrived at their house after Wiscon, one week late. There weren't any markings on it indicating a problem- lost, damaged, insufficient funds, etc. I took a few things out, put other things in, sealed it up, and mom and dad were going to send it back to Seattle (probably UPS this time) later in the week. We didn't want it arriving while we were still in Chicago.
Today, I went to the post office to pick up our mail that had a vacation hold. There was an envelope from the postal service, hand-written to Julie McGruff. No postmark. Inside was a crisp $1 bill, and a copy of part of some sort of claim form. It has a Madison postmark dated May 11, and the word "Spoiled" stamped on it several times. On the back, in two different pen colors, is a note saying "left at P.O. by your Dad". And my address, again spelling my name McGruff. (I am not the crime dog!) WHAT THE FUCKING HELL DOES THIS MEAN??????????
