It was a beautiful, mostly sunny afternoon. Some of the mountains were out. It's practically spring, flowers are coming up everywhere. We went for a walk down to Fremont to pick up our rings. They look great. Mine is nearly identical to my old one. It had my small diamond, bezel set in a 3mm wide band. Another 3mm band was attached as a wedding band. This new ring is the same, except that the bands are 2mm wide. This has the effect of making the diamond look *much* bigger! It will also mean that the ring won't be as strong and sturdy as the old one, and I'll have to be more careful with it. Luke's ring is a plain band with his old diamond set simply into it. Both very pleasing to one's Inner Raccoon!
The other day I sent an e-mail to my friend Elliott back in Madison. I hadn't heard from him since before the holidays, and I was starting to wonder. Today he wrote that things are fine and dandy with him, and he was glad to get an update from me.
Then, out of the blue, I got an e-mail from a gal at the accounting firm I used to work for in California. It was such a nice surprise, I hadn't heard from her in years! I sent her a brief update, and it was really nice to re-connect. She also offered her services as a job reference, which I was hoping I'd be able to get from someone at the firm, now that I'm in job-hunting mode.
A good day...
