Having A Fine Time
Jul. 9th, 2005 10:21 pmI am here in Seattle, on the computer of
holyoutlaw. It has a funny keyboard...
The whole airplane thing went OK. At the Minneapolis airport, there were TV's tuned to CNN. I could hear that something bad had gone down, but I wouldn't find out anything about people I knew till I got to Seattle and checked LJ.
holyoutlaw doesn't have cable or even watch TV, so everything I know has been gleaned off of my friends list.
We've stayed up half the night talking. We've eaten well. We've run errands and gone for walks. Yesterday I opened a bank account here. Last night we went to see "Circus Contraption" at a tiny community theater. Very cool. Then we went to the Clarion West party. People said "have you moved here yet? When are you coming? It'll be nice to have you here." I felt very welcome.
The weather has been lovely, today we walked around Green Lake. I got some sun. I'm looking at every "for rent" sign and wondering what it would be like to live in this building, or that one. My own place will have to wait a while, though.
Tomorrow we check out a nearby storage facility, see what their prices look like, meet folks at a pub, then we'll have birthday cake afterwards.
Then I have to start steeling myself for the plane ride home on Monday.
