Score one for new bosslady...
Jun. 11th, 2005 01:46 pmThe supply gal and I were in the kitchen on Thursday reading the paper, when new bosslady comes in and remarks on just how cold it is in the basement. She gets to wear normal clothes to work, and she had on a very thin, light, summery top. Supply gal and I both lit into how fucking cold and miserable we are every day, and new bosslady vowed to try to do something about it.
When I walked in the door Friday morning, the basement was noticably warmer. I went upstairs and asked bosslady how she did it! She said she wasn't sure, she didn't do anything herself, but she called the heating/cooling people and told them the situation. Perhaps they sent a signal remotely or something (it's a new-fangled, high-tech building after all!). They were under the impression that nobody worked in the basement (um, hello?), and the thermostat was set at 62 degrees. Guess we were lucky that it got "up to" 66 every day! Whatever the process, it was a tolerable temperature Friday morning, and the air conditioner turned itself off around 10am. Ah, the glorious silence that returned as those roaring fans wound down! I could hear myself think again! Of course, now that I'm finally comfortable, the rest of the building is miserable! Upstairs, where they are plagued with things like windows that let in the hot sun, and doors that let in the hot, humid air from outside, it got a bit too warm! More adjusting must be done with the system, but for listening and trying to fix it, new bosslady scores early points in the "Not Evil" category!
( And now, a musical interlude... )
