Jumpin' Jebus On Toast Points!
Apr. 1st, 2004 11:25 pmI have a date Friday night.
I sent him an e-mail at lunchtime, I said- here's my phone number, I dare you to call me.
He called me.
He sounded pretty nice over the phone, and he really wants to meet me. He pleaded computer problems for not getting back to me right away. We'll meet somewhere downtown for dinner tomorrow. Someplace public, well lit, where you check your axes and chipper-shredders at the door. A girl has to be careful...
There are still so many unknowns, I mean- he could be a republican! The mood around this town is so upbeat today though, it's put me in a great mood as well, so maybe I could overlook that... maybe...
For non-locals: A college kid went missing last Saturday. Posters went up all over town of a pretty, dark-haired girl. There were press conferences, volunteers with tracking dogs searched the open fields. Her family and law enforcement feared the worst. It made national news. She was found safe Wednesday afternoon. The whole story isn't clear, she may or may not have been abducted, but a wave of relief washed over the whole city. It's all anyone could talk about at work today. So often, these kinds of stories have tragic and gruesome endings. It's nice to have one that didn't turn out that way.
Oh, and I ate today. Twice.
