Not much going on. But then again- is there ever? I see things, I hear things, I do something and say, I'll write that up in LJ. Then suddenly I feel terribly boring, and I get all self-conscious.
"Nobody cares about what I made for dinner!" I say to myself. Then I think "I like to hear about what everyone ELSE makes for dinner,"
and then I don't feel so bad...
I actually watched the news yesterday, but I sort of had to. I've been taking the head-in-the-sand approach, but Friday I was at the nail salon. My hands were under the dryer, and I couldn't move for the next 15 minutes. The national network news was on, so I watched. It sounded like propaganda, designed to make the average stupid American feel better. "The Iraqi's just want the US to come in and get it over with" Dan Rather was saying. "It'll be a piece of cake, they've got like, hardly any troops." "This is the right thing, we have to do it." I went home and resumed my TV watching process, where I totally bypass CNN when I surf channels. When the war starts, and everyone else in the US knows where to go to get their gas masks and smallpox shots, I'll be like "Um, I wasn't listening, what do I do...?" I'll be pounding on the closing door of the fallout shelter with perfectly manicured hands, screaming "I cared, I'll watch the news from now on, I swear..."

Juliebata, you've never said anything boring in LiveJournal. It's more interesting to know that you went to the nail salon than to listen to the Shrub stumble and lie his way through yet another speech about weapons-of-mass-destruction. If more people knew the state of your nails and fewer people knew the latest bullshit from Washington, we wouldn't be on the verge of launching a preemptive war that was planned before the Bush team ever stole the election.

What rdkeir said. Yeah!

Don't worry, I'm completely unprepared also. I'll probably hear the war has started on Morning Edition, just like I heard about the World Trade Center and the Columbia disaster.

You know, that's exactly what I do, with the dinner recitations: get worried that it's so boring, but then remember that I enjoy hearing about others' meals, probably because it's cheeper than a plane ticket to actually share it there with you! :)

Words of wisdom I learned from TurboAPA and still try to take to heart: Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Doing. Period.

So don't be a-feared about boring folks. The primary user of an LJ account is the writer. You don't have to worry about writing for us. (That said, I understand the sentiment you expressed completely. At those times, I just try to practice Denial and post it anyway. At worst, I can always delete it.)
