I don't know how to make it be an actual poll, but I'm curious as to what people might think...
Valentine's day is tomorrow, I am alone, and it is SUCKING tremendously. I could do one of three things:
1) I can sit home and mope with a gallon of chocolate ice cream in front of me. Mmmmm... ice cream....
2) I can go ice skating by myself.
3) I can go to a party (at a country bar, no less!) for local singles, thereby announcing to the world at large that I am as big a LOSER as everyone else there.

I don't know, I've actually had fun at some other events for singles I've gone to, but this one being on Valentine's day adds extra pressure. How desperate am I? I really do want to meet someone nice, but what are the odds that it could happen tomorrow? Pretty slim. Should I bother?

Go the party. Valentine's Day is a commercial construct, so you may as well go out and have fun.

And you're not announcing you're a loser. You're announcing that you're out having a good time. :)

When in doubt, dance.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

The evening did turn out to be a bust, but I didn't feel like too big of a loser!
Can I add you to my LJ friends list?

1. You are a great person, not a loser
2. You deserve to meet someone nice
3. You don't sound like you want to stay home
4. Go out, hope to meet someone, and maybe you'll meet a person who deserves you

Dress up pretty, go to the party, have yourself a good time.

If it sucks, you can always go back home, but at least you tried, right?

Go to the party!

If it's a bust, you can always come home, eat the ice cream, and then go skating the next day, but if you miss the party, you miss it.

Besides, you might find a guy who dances. Very hard to find those.

ah, go, maybe you'll have fun. If it stops being fun, you can leave. You can also compare the people you meet at this one to the sorts you've met at the other parties you've been to.

As for being a loser, I think that it's silly to decide that your relationship status is more important on a random day of the year.

(I don't even want to start the conversation about strangers' judgments of me. But if you want me to rant about it, I will.)

I went and had pizza with coworkers. Two of which are ex-military and spent the time describing how weird the ensignia of rank of the various services are compared to theirs. L. opted to babysit for friends up in the city. She called while I was at the pizza joint. She's coming down with a cold and sounded terrible. I've gone two and a half weeks without smoking, and more importantly, not injuring anyone.
