A moment of absolute happiness...
Feb. 10th, 2003 11:10 pmWent ice skating again, at Tenney park. Last week, when my family was together, I mentioned my recent skating outings, and my brother Dave said he might like to go with me if I went again. He still had his old skates in the closet, though he hadn't used them in 19 years. I called him up this afternoon- "Hey! Let's go after work!" Dave lives near the park, and it was just past sunset when we got there, the stars were just coming out. Not a cloud in the sky and bitter cold, the temperature was probably around 5 degrees or so, with no wind to speak of. The ice looked perfect. Dave laced up his skates for the first time since 1984, and he did great! We practically had the whole place to ourselves, only a few hardy souls were out on the ice. No hockey-playing thugs were hogging the best parts of the lagoon. We flew around the ice till our feet were numb. It felt wonderful! Fantastic! Exhilarating!
We were kids all over again! Dave said he wasn't sure at first if he'd even remember how to skate, but like I said, he did great, and neither one of us fell down at all! We had a blast, and Dave says he wants to go again!
Shortly after I got home, Rick calls from Florida and we talk for more than an hour. My plans for laundry were shot, but that's OK, I have ONE more clean work shirt that I can wear tomorrow!
Finally, a good day.

Curious, too...
Date: 2003-02-12 11:12 pm (UTC)I joined three dating sites that didn't cost any money. I set my sights pretty low, I don't expect to find true love this way. Of course I can hope for it, but I try to be realistic.

Date: 2003-02-12 11:28 pm (UTC)Heh...as for true love...what is that that it cannot be found in the most opportune manner. Given the right circumstances and opportunity, true love can be found where you want providing that both parties consent and are interested. True love, after all, is what you make of it through your investment of interest and time.
