It's Sunday afternoon, just after 3:00. Since I posted a comment in TurboAPA yesterday, I've actually done a few things. I've been looking in on [livejournal.com profile] replyhazy's cats while she and B. are in San Diego. Such nice boys! We watched TV, played "I want you to trip over me," "butting heads is fun," and "no really, mom says we can do that!" The little stinkers...

Then it was off to a family dinner. Dad's birthday was Thursday, so all of us, along with some family friends, met at Herremans in Sun Prairie, dad's favorite place. We've been going there for
special occasions for as long as I can remember. This was a particularly difficult gathering, as dad, often annoying in a crowd, was in rare form with several drinks on board.

Me and my two brothers, Dave and Steve, made our escape as early as was polite, and headed out to meet some of Steve's friends at a dance club on the other side of town. The three of us have always loved to go dancing. I may have gotten mom's light skin and blue eyes, but I did get a bit of soul from dad's African American heritage. I can dance, dammit, and guys who can't drive me crazy!
This dance club is in a newer hotel on the outskirts of town. A meat market if ever there was one, with overpriced drinks, flashing disco lights, fog machine, and lonely looking business travelers scoping out the dance floor. But the music is loud, mindless and thumping, just what we needed to purge the family stresses from our minds. With a group of friends to dance with, it was the perfect thing. There were several big groups, as well as lots of nice-looking single folks. An equal mix of black and white faces. The only trouble with dancing with my brothers is that since we don't look that much alike, people assume I'm coupled with one of them, so we rarely get asked to dance by strangers. Oh well, it wasn't that big a deal last night, we danced till we dropped, and I didn't get home till 3am.

Tonight, I go back over to my folks to finalize The Taxes. UGH! Dad did my taxes, and says I won't get hit as hard as last year. There will be Mom Food involved, so here I go, sucking up the lecture...
