Aug. 12th, 2012 01:05 pmAt the parental home. Watching Olympic stuff, attempting to surf on their ancient computer. Their browser is even OLDER than mine. I can't access my email from here. I can read it on my phone, but I can't do anything else (and it was a bitch to figure out how to even get to the place where I can do that). Anyway, besides the internet hassles, and the unbelievably soft water, everything is fine. The weather is great, dad and I aren't on each others nerves yet, and I'm just chillaxing in the house I grew up in. I got my Red Lobster fix last Thursday, when I dragged my brother there. Between us, we ate 47 shrimp! Yum!
Friday, had a wonderful evening with
bibliofile. Ate at Ella's Deli, shopped at Savers, and when I took her home, I got to meet shiny cat and fluffy cat. Extra added bonus, Jim and Joan were home, and I got to visit with them for a while. I don't remember the last time I got to talk to either of them in a non-convention setting. It was lovely.
Saturday, did yard stuff with the folks. The weather was perfect. Dad trimmed the shrubs. I raked stuff up, and pulled weeds from the hedge. I helped mow the lawn.
Today, a shower, some laundry. Plans later with
replyhazy and
billzilla.
I find myself having a bit of imposter syndrome. Wanting to contact people, and not working up the courage to do so. I think they won't want to see me. Or not being sure I have the right phone number, and being too chicken to just try. Another slight annoyance is that my folks got rid of their land line, so I don't have a local number for people to reach me at.
I've been teasing my folks since they did it- "how could you get rid of MY number?" The number that was always MY number since the beginning of time. They were sick of all the robo-calls, and wanted to upgrade their cell phones, so they went ahead and got rid of the land line (and number) they'd had for fifty years.
Anyway, the folks went off to a matinee movie, and I'm going to have a snack and go hang out with the hummingbirds in the backyard.
