All I Can Do Is Describe What We Saw
Nov. 1st, 2011 05:48 pmLuke and I went to downtown Ballard for Halloween last night, most of the businesses give out candy. There were hundreds of people, and some great costumes. We didn't dress up, and we totally regret it. I still have my "double rainbow" jacket, but that's SO last year! I brought my camera, planning to get pictures of good costumes, but I never ended up taking it out. We just walked around admiring the people and pets who got dressed up. I especially like a clever, home-made outfit. Honorable mentions:
* A tiny girl in the perfect Madeline outfit.
* A mom, dad, and babe-in-arms in beautiful Elizabethan garb. Looked hand-made.
* A boy with a large empty sack of dog food over his head. Arm holes cut out, a small dog dish tied to his head. Simple and clever, I liked it!
* A lady dressed as princess Beatrice. Suit-dress in the EXACT PERFECT color, and a perfect replica of that ridiculous hat.
* An open umbrella with beanie-baby dogs and cats hanging from it. "Raining cats and dogs!"
* Babe-in arms Prince. He had the black curly wig, purple suit with ruffly shirt, and a thin little mustache painted on. Luke joked to his dad, "hey, he's actual size!" Dad laughed.
* The best one I only got a glimpse of, and is almost beyond description. A boy with a large blue balloon over his head. It was as big as, say, one of those yoga balls you see at the gym. It was filled with helium, and attached to him with this incredible lattice of string. Sort of like this- http://media-1.web.britannica.com/eb-media//64/65664-050-673D7EE7.jpg
We didn't get a good look at what the bottom of his outfit was, only that it looked like some sort of building with a clock on it. I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture.
There weren't a lot of pets dressed up this year, but there were some nice ones. Several bumblebees and ladybugs. A Superman, and a big basset hound in a hot-dog outfit. I liked the huge Great Dane in the pink fairy wings!
As things wound down, Luke and I wandered into Shiku Sushi on Ballard avenue, and had a fantastic dinner.
We are totally dressing up next year!
