All Ur Cold Are Belong To Me, Also, Worms
Nov. 15th, 2010 07:22 pmLandlord swapped our new dead fridge with an old working fridge from the empty apartment downstairs. They can now deal with fixing dead fridge at their leisure.
For three years we enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet at the Woodland Park Zoo. Due to budget cuts, they didn't have it last year (or this year). Friends had a great Thanksgiving at their place. This year, those friends have other plans. Which is fine, they've entertained a lot this year, it's not like they are required to have Thanksgiving just because we have nowhere else to go.
Actually, we really like going out on Thanksgiving, and wanted to try a nice restaurant near us that has a buffet every year. And we could walk to it. I called, but it's too late, booked up. I was pissed, we really wanted to go there.
I was pretty upset for a while. I had all these feelings of:
*We don't have any real friends here
*Nobody wants to socialize with us
*We suck and that's why we're alone
*If anyone invites us now, it'll be because they pity us, not because they actually want us there. If they wanted us, we'd be invited somewhere already.
*Don't mind me, I'll be in the corner eating worms...
I snapped out of it, for the most part, and started to look for other places to eat. Booked up, expensive, or REALLY expensive were the options. But we picked a place, sight unseen, not a buffet, but which looks perfectly nice. I got one of the last reservations available. We will get dressed up and have a fancy Thanksgiving dinner, just the two of us.
