Yesterday and today, Luke and I went on some pretty long walks. Saturday, we went as far as 31st and 88th. Today, we made it to 95th and Greenwood, by way of 9th and Dibble. About six miles round trip. Epic. When we go for neighborhod walks, my goal is to meet at least one friendly cat on the sidewalk. On Saturday's walk, I hit the feline jackpot on Jones Ave NW, just north of 73rd. Not one, but four cats came over to us for purrs, headbutts, chin skritches and belly-flops. Luke, being very allergic, just stands by and watches me get my kitty fix. On tonight's walk, I only met one cat, but we did see some goats tending to a yard at about 95th and 4th.
Luke bought a book called "Take a Hike Seattle" detailing hikes less than two or so hours from the city. Many of them are for "real" hikers, but we want to get out and try a few of the easy ones. The waterfall book said both Twin Falls and Wallace Falls were easy-to-moderate hikes, and they nearly killed us.
One thing all the outdoor guides we have say to do, is tell someone where you're going and when you expect to return. It's common sense and it never occurred to us. I realized after reading that, that if we went missing in the woods somewhere, nobody would miss us at all!
So, Monday afternoon, we're driving up to Anacortes, and going exploring. There are low tides predicted, and beaches where we can enjoy them. We'll be back Wednesday afternoon. There you have it. Play nice and don't rob our place while we're gone.
