A Shout-Out To Mah Peeps!
Jul. 10th, 2007 10:52 pmThanks for all the birthday wishes! It has been a quiet, solitary birthday, for the most part. I didn't work today, but Luke did, then he had a photography class this evening. He just arrived home a few minutes ago. We'll have dinner tomorrow night, when
replyhazy is in town. That'll be fun.
A few weeks ago, I was up late at night watching something on PBS about yoga. People were taking this lady's class and going on and on about how great they felt and how much less back pain they had. I've been having more and more pain and problems with my back in the last year. It was late. I was in pain and susceptible. Feeling like I'd been duped by an infomercial, I started googling for local yoga studios. I found one, and the next day I discovered I had signed up for a class, "Yoga For Healthy Backs" the first of which was tonight. I have never taken a yoga class or anything even remotely like this before. I wasn't expecting a miracle cure, but I'm not sure yet how I feel about it. Now, I am about as limber as a petrified log. I have never, ever been able to touch my toes. The Cardiff Giant has an easier time with the limbo than I do. And relaxation is just something I don't do easily. I don't like it when anyone tells me how and when to breathe, so I can't say how well this is going to work. Just teach me the right stretches, dammit! But I felt good for trying something new and different, even if it doesn't work out in the long run.
So, Luke was at photography school, and I was at yoga class, no birthday dinner tonight. We're both off tomorrow, so we'll find something fun to do during the day. His birthday was the big deal last week, I'm mostly "meh" about mine.
I'm 42. Meh...
