I wanted my Snowpocalypse day, dammit, so I took today off. The news reports last night were pretty dire, and it was snowing pretty hard when we went to bed. When we woke up, we were pretty disappointed to see that most of the snow hadn't stuck, and traffic on the Aurora bridge was moving along just fine. Everywhere else (north, south, and east of us) was buried in snow, and roads were an ice-rink of abandoned cars. Luke's boss lives somewhere in the south boonies, and she never makes it in when it snows, so he had today off. I could very easily have gotten to work, but I said to hell with it. Bosslady teased me when I called, but was fine with it. I felt too guilty to go back to bed, so we did some household things. I finally put the X-mas stuff away, and I did some laundry. Luke went out and took some photos. He read on a local news site that there might be a comet visible in the sky tonight. At 4:00, I had my second appointment with a new chiropractor. I'm likin' this gal a lot! Very nice, informative, funny, and not a hippy at all! I dashed home, avoiding the icy slick spots, rushing to get up to the rooftop deck in time to try to see the comet just after sunset. Luke was already up there, along with a guy from the second floor. He had a very nice pair of binoculars. We weren't exactly sure where to look, or even if it would be high in the sky enough to see over Queen Anne Hill. But then I saw what looked like a airline contrail not too far from the horizon, more or less where it looked like the sun had gone down. Sure enough, that was it, comet McNaught! It was bright enough to see with the naked eye, and it was just beautiful! It was probably only visible for about half an hour, longer I suppose, if you could see it without a big hill in the way. It may be visible again tomorrow night.

My 4th comet, I'm so completely thrilled- I love comets! Hearing about a comet, then seeing it on the same day! Pardon me while I go *SQUEEE!*
