But I should wait for my nails to dry a little more. I walked to a tiny, hole-in-the-wall nail salon down the street, and got my nails done for the first time since September. They're a little longer than I care for, but the shape is just right. I'd gotten completely used to having short, stumpy, ugly nails again. It's nice to feel extra girly! This may sound totally insane, but I so missed that smell, that chemical, fume-ey, probably utterly toxic smell of nail care products. Mmmmm.....

In the salon, they were watching a video with people in old-fashioned Chinese costumes. They were speaking one language, it was dubbed into another, and the subtitles were something else. I asked the girl doing my nails, she said it was dubbed into Vietnamese, and the subtitles were in Chinese. I was just getting into it when some teenagers came in and they changed over to a US soap opera. Not that I had any idea what was going on, but it was fun to watch, anyway.

Most of what's left to do is downstairs. Straightening up, more vacuuming, putting things away that have been sitting out on the counter-top since Thanksgiving. [livejournal.com profile] intelligentrix and [livejournal.com profile] slave_driver arrived yesterday, and stopped over for a visit. My folks should have landed around noon, and will probably check in with me soon. I was cranky and stressed last night, but things finally seem to be falling into place. I also need to finish what I'm going to say for vows. I just can't seem to find the right words.

Anyway, on to the next project...

The house is as clean as I can make it. The rest is up to Jane. The parental meet & greet went very well. I knew it would, but I stressed about it anyway. Me & Luke, Mom & Dad, Joan & Rem, Luke's sister Nora and her husband Tony all went to dinner after meeting up at the house. The rats were at their cutest and best behaved. The restaurant was loud, dinner was lovely, but I just wanted it to be over, and I kind of had an attack of the "angry guts" after a while. Luke has a cold. Our officiant may or may not be there on time tomorrow. When we got home, I tried to write up vows, but there are no words. I simply don't have them. I cried, Luke held me. I'll just repeat what he says because his words are perfect.

Going to bed now...
