Now, With 99% Less Cranky...
Feb. 3rd, 2006 05:13 pmThe only cranky-worthy event today was that the exterminators didn't show up. When they sprayed for wasps in the attic, they found a great deal of evidence of a rat infestation up there. And not the nice, sweet, cute type we keep in a well-appointed cage downstairs! These are the icky destructive kind. We knew there was something in the attic, the ceilings are pretty low, and you can hear little scrabbling noises up there from time to time. The exterminators came in and inspected the attic, and made a plan to come back and get rid of the rats. Today was the third try, something keeps coming up that seems to prevent them from coming when they're scheduled. I guess once they get your check for one service, they're no longer that interested in finishing the job. Rescheduled for Saturday, hopefully. Oh well, at least the wasps are gone...
Last night, Luke made the greatest pizza, even better than the last one! Read his mouth-watering description of it here:

Fresh, filling and delicious, it was a lot of fun to help make. I was the official dish washer, shallot chopper, cheese grater, spinach rinser, and, um, quality control sampler! Best! Pizza! Ever!
Today, I went off on my own to run a few errands. I found a few items we'll need for Valentine's day, and I bought a small cake. We aren't planning on having a *real* wedding cake (ie: multi-tiered, frou-frou with bells on top), but we've been sampling cakes from bakeries and upscale grocery stores, and we'll get a nice sheet cake for the wedding. We've been impressed by Larry's Market. A few weeks ago, we stopped in for some other things and ended up buying a small lemon cake that was really, really good. Last night, as I was digesting fabulous pizza and feeling cranky about job stuff, I realized that I had an overwhelming desire for cake. So today, I bought one, we liked Larry's lemon so much, we wanted to try their chocolate. When I'm done digesting pizza leftovers, I'll cut it!

Time for cake!
