The weekend report..
May. 2nd, 2005 06:37 pmSaturday afternoon, I'm sorting magazines into keep/toss piles (toss was much larger). The phone rings, it's P., wondering if I'd like to join her for dinner. A friend of hers was in town who had been on the boat trip around the world last year. We met at an Indonesian restaurant and man, was it ever nice to go out somewhere for an exotic dinner! I have to be careful what I order in a place like that, but I've had several wonderful meals there before, and this Saturday was no exception. I hadn't seen P. in months, she's a card-carrying Busy Person. Two jobs, no time. There was much catching up to do. It was a challenge to try to steer the conversation in ways that could include the other person, who doesn't know any of our friends or history. I tried very hard, but I don't think I did all that well.
( An evening on the dance floor.. )
I managed to sleep through yet another
wiscon meeting Sunday morning, but I'll go to the next one. When I finally got up, I went through my boxes of art. Not much in there that I could throw away. I always meant to put a few things on the walls of this apartment, but I never got around to it, and all my art is still packed away. My goal is to go through every box in my storage room and find things to toss or sell.
I found something from back in my very early days of fandom. I used to be a big fan of Kelly Freas. I'd buy old pulp magazines that had his work on the covers. I took one of those to a Windycon a zillion years ago, and I asked him to sign it. He also signed- in sharpie- a t-shirt with a silkscreen picture of a cover that I liked. Seeing as he died not long ago, I wonder if these two items might possibly be worth tossing up on E-Bay.
May is filling up fast with events and activities, and it'll be nice to have more stuff to do.
*Thursday the 5th, crown prep at the dentist. Needles, drilling, etc...
*Saturday the 7th, Olbrich Gardens art fair, with mom and Joan.
*Sunday the 8th, mother's day, some sort of family thing will happen.
*Friday the 13th (Oooooo!), German Art Students at the Slipper Club.
*Sunday the 15th, Wiscon meeting.
*Friday the 20th, finish up crown at the dentist.
*Saturday/Sunday, 21st & 22nd, last weekend available for bakesale baking!!
*Thursday the 26th, 1/2 day at work, run last minute errands, then the Wiscon festivities begin! More importantly though,
holyoutlaw arrives that evening! Happy! Happy! Happy!
