Another amazing weekend with [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw. Too short. Goals were met. A few things didn't go according to plan, but it just got us talking even more. My resolve is strong, I want to move to Seattle within a year. And I just might be able to do it.

Thursday evening, I went to the airport, worried that the weather might cause problems. It was rainy and foggy, not good flying weather. Would he get cancelled? I sat on the floor up against the wall and people-watched as other flights came in. All the departures were delayed, and people were cranky. The board said his flight would be 30 minutes late. After 45 minutes and no announcement or change to the board, I started to worry, but then others who had been standing near me started meeting their parties, and there he was, just like that! Hollywood Airport Moment!
After a lovely (though a little too spicy) Indian dinner, we went to the same hotel where we stayed in August. Pausing only a moment to settle in to the room, we headed straight for the hot tub. Very nice... 'nuff said about that evening...

Friday, New Year's Eve, it was bright and sunny. We had breakfast, drove around town a bit, did some shopping. After a nap, it was time to get ready for the J&S party. It was nice to be with local fans I don't see that often, though I didn't get to talk to a few people I wanted to. It was wonderful to have someone to kiss at midnight. I feel bad about the horrible things happening to the world at large, but I myself have had a pretty incredible year. After two really bad years, I think I'm entitled. 2005 is sure to be interesting.
Not long after midnight, we left the party and headed downtown. There was a PanAfrica dance, and we both wanted to go. When we got there, it was packed. We danced for a while, but they weren't playing a lot of the stuff I like. Then someone stepped on my foot- really hard! Ow! Shortly after that, I started to have a sneezing fit. I don't know if it was from someone's perfume or what, but the two kleenex I had in my pocket were soon soaked, and we decided to head back to the hotel. I took some sleep-inducing allergy pills, and so ended New Year's Eve.

Saturday, we slept late, and the headache I'd had for days was finally gone. The weather report warned of freezing rain. We looked outside, and decided there wasn't anywhere we needed to be! We spent nearly the entire afternoon in the hot tub, while ice built up on the cars and roadways outside. The hotel was pretty quiet, we had the hot tub and pool to ourselves the whole time. When we were thoroughly wrinkled and lobsterized, we went back to the room, where he proceeded to kick my ass at Boggle. Damn him! *shakes fist*
Then we climbed into bed and watched ice skating on TV for a while. Pretty silly...

Sunday, most of the roads were clear, and we met my folks for lunch. I was nervous and stressing about it, but it ended up going well. I felt it was important for my folks to spend a little more time [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw, as I love him, and I want to leave Madison in order to start a new life and live closer to him. When I moved away before, I had been married for a few years, Whump was a known commodity to my family. We ate at the restaurant where my brother Dave works, so he got to meet [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw as well. Back to the hotel to decompress for a couple hours, then we went over to my brother Steve's house to visit for a bit. That was a lot easier, as their two big friendly dogs take the stress out of any situation. We then went out for a quick bite to eat, then settled in to watch the weather report. Bad weather was a possibility for Monday, and we went to bed concerned.

Luckily, when we woke up (far too early) Monday morning, the roads were dry, and nothing was falling from the sky. Hoping it would stay that way, I took [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw to the airport. We stood there with our arms wrapped around each other, and I cried a river onto the shoulder of his jacket. Goodbyes suck. We won't see each other again till April.

If he made his connection at Midway, he'll be back home soon, and we'll return to our frequent phone calls, and constant e-mails. I'll have to make do with the memory of how it feels to fall asleep next to him.

Back to work tomorrow, I found out last Wednesday that I will be able to transfer over to the new office. I met with the lady who will be the new boss, along with the head honcho of everything, and that same day, they offered me the job! It's a huge risk, new bosslady could hate me as much as current bosslady (I hope not, she certainly seems much nicer), but it's a risk I have to take for my own sanity. Moving half of my files to the new office and setting things up will be a monumental challenge that they still don't have much of a plan for. Going to be interesting....
