Adding folks...
Jun. 5th, 2004 03:01 amI spent a pleasant Friday evening, plan-free and lounging about. I climbed into the bathtub at midnight. I placed a phone call, I soaked, he soaked in his own tub thousands of miles from here, and we talked till my phone ran out of power. This is fun.
I'm going to go and add a few people who I've been meaning to add for some time. Often times, I'll run across interesting folks through other people I know, or sometimes I'll just read a comment thread on one of the communities I'm in. I'll go to each person's journal, just to see what they're like. I've found some very interesting people that way. I enjoy reading about people's lives. I like having good friends and random strangers all mixed up on my friends list. I love it when someone adds me back. I was hoping a few people would add me after the LiveJournal party, but on the other hand, all I really did was dress up and serve mimosas. I didn't get many conversations in. (Yes- I was distracted by a guy in a tie-dyed silk shirt, but still..)
For next year, someone had the fantastic idea of making little cards, like business cards, with our icons on them. We'd all have a stack, then we could pass them out as we met and talked to people. It be a great way to remember who we talked to, who they are on LJ, and whether it's OK to add them or not. Cool idea or what?!
