I am strong, I can do it...
Feb. 5th, 2004 11:44 pmI live 1.8 miles from my office. I always say I should walk to work once in a while, but I never do, it's far too easy to cave in to the need for more sleep in the morning. When I'm only sleeping three hours a night, I'm not about to wake up any earlier. But two things happened today that make me willing to give it a try:
1) I stepped on the scale and I didn't like what I saw.
2) We're having another BIG HONKIN' SNOWSTORM!
My nemesis, the super-steep hill on Old Sauk Road, will be impassable in the morning, so dammitt- I'm going to walk! I just spent half an hour looking in my closet to see if I still have a pair of long underwear. I don't, but I'll figure something out. It won't be that cold, I think the weather-dude said it'll be the 20's.
I'm actually looking forward to it, I used to walk to work at my old job all the time, and it was rather exhilarating. A very good way to wake up in the morning. I wonder how much time I should allow? I haven't made this particular walk before.
