I brought up another of the boxes from my parent's attic that I had in my storage locker. I didn't remember what was in it. There were birthday cards from childhood, letters, photos, mementos of the Great Alaskan Vacation of 1981. Things I'd forgotten I'd saved, but I'm glad I did. I just needed to go through it once, now I'll pack it all up, put it away, and maybe not take any of it out again for 20 years, who knows. I'm happy to have it all, I suppose I'm more sentimental than I care to admit.

Tonight's other thrills came from grocery shopping, and hauling three heavy bags up the stairs. There are 43 steps that separate my car from my front door. I only feel winded if, like today, I have to carry something up with me. I climb stairs all day at the office, too. On average, I'm up and down the office stairs 25 times a day. I think it's the main reason I stay thin, when I actually eat like crap most of the time- I climb so many damn stairs every day!

stair climbing burns way more calories than simple walking, because of the different level of effort required to lift the body upwards.

Or so they tell me. I used to think that the reason I didn't gain weight was that I lived in a five-level house, and was disorganized, so that anything I wanted was on a different level!

Hey, I have some boxes like that. One of the highlights of going through old things is finding stuff you forgot you had. I like to think of it all as prods to your memory. There's worse things than being sentimental over a box of stuff.
