My dad calls me at noon, I'm sound asleep, of course. "Did you see it on the news yet?" I hadn't. Dad had just talked to our cousin Judy, who lives on a farm outside of Houston, they heard a big boom in the sky this morning. Poor [livejournal.com profile] whumpdotcom is in Texas right now, things must be nuts down there!
I feel really bad because I didn't even know there was a shuttle up this week. I pay so little attention to the news these days, and the space shuttle doesn't get much airtime anymore. I'm not the most informed citizen you'll find on the street. I watch what I can stand, and turn away when it gets boring (politics), or scary (war, etc..), that's just the way it is for me.

He posted on fem-sf a while ago, said they heard the sonic boom as it went over. I was very glad to see that post ... not that I thought anything had happened to him, but you know, when you know people, you always fret.

My sister "Janasty" was at the shuttle launch a couple of weeks ago. She got to go throgh work and spent a lot of time drinking in dirt bag bars. She got back a week ago, and this morning she left for Hawaii for vacation. On the 13th she flies up here to Alaska. I think *I* need a vacation more than she does.
